Tom Daskalos was born and raised in a village just outside of Tripoli, Greece. At just the age of 15, young Tom was sent by his parents to Athens with his older brother George to be professionally trained as a tailor. Tom and George worked for years in a number of clothing stores in and around Athens where the highly skilled tailors created a loyal following of satisfied clientele.
In 1952 George moved to the United States and in 1956 Tom arrived in the states to live with his brother in California. Tom–now a trained Master Tailor–opened a small tailor shop named Daskalos Brothers with George in Concord, California in 1958. By 1960 the brothers began to carry ready wear in the little tailor shop. A decade later, Daskalos Brothers expanded to be a large retail store featuring higher end domestic goods such as Louis Roth & LeBaron. The Daskalos brothers had indeed arrived and made a large “sartorial taste” impression on their growing clientele.
But they weren’t done yet. The ambitious young immigrant brohers opened a second Daskalos Brothers in Lafayette, California in 1974 that became a mainstay of the community for 26 years. In 1990 Daskalos Brothers changed direction by opening Daskalos European Fashions in Walnut Creek California within Broadway Plaza. The new store now offered high-end European apparel such as Canali, Zegna & Brioni. In 1991, the siblings closed Daskalos Brothers and George Daskalos retired to leave Tom as the sole proprietor of the new shop.
For the past 56 years, Daskalos European Fashions has been the premiere menswear store in the East Bay offering the highest level of customer service and fine tailoring. Tom, and the entire Daskalos staff, take great pride in offering the finest in mens European clothing to the most discerning gentlemen in California all with a deep, rich history and knowledge about fine dressing.
